Finding snow in the mountains around Ellensburg isn’t hard in the fall, just drive up in the hills and eventually you’ll hit it. The snow traces the roadways but in some places the drifts get to high to drive through.

“Just minutes from any place in Kittitas is one of the hot fly fishing destinations in the North West: The Yakima River,” history teacher Joe Mohn said. “Even in the dead of winter, you can catch trophy cutthroat trout and you can’t beat a late summer day throwing terestials to voracious rainbows.”

If you want to do something good for yourself and be productive, there are places to exercise in Ellensburg where you can easily bond with your friends, while also taking care of your body.

“Hot yoga is really fun because it makes you feel really refreshed when you leave and it’s really fun to do with your friends,” senior Jane Kratz said. “There’s a place called Indigo in Ellensburg that I always go to.”

If you are in the mood for an adventure, there are many hidden places to hike and explore near Ellensburg that are easy to get to.

If you’re willing to take a short drive, there are many fun places in towns nearby that not many people know about, and will guarantee an enjoyable time.

“There’s this barber shop in Yakima called Diamond Cuts and they make the client feel comfortable,” Senior Jesus Velasquez said. “You have the option to hang out and play video games, and he has a pretty cool couch. There’s a donut shop right next to it, so if you ever get munchies, you can just go there.”

Also in Yakima, there are many underrated restaurants that are delicious, as well as entertaining.

“I like going to the Mongolian Grill in Yakima. You get to put whatever you want on your food and it’s cool to watch it being made,” said junior Sydney Lael.
