New Washington Tobacco Law

Washington State has a new tobacco law, and it is officially illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21. “I don’t agree with the new tobacco law because if you are legally an adult and you do all the things adults have to do, you should be able to make the decision for yourself to use tobacco or not,” junior Natalia Benavides said.

Washington state started out by requiring the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) and then moved on to the Measurement of Student Progress (MSP) and now the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC). If students don't pass the SBA, there are other options they can do to prove they know their stuff.
